On July 11th, the launching ceremony of the joint construction of a social practice base for college students between our school and the Wuzhong District People's Government of Suzhou City, as well as the summer science and technology service activities for doctoral students, was held in Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, marking the official start of the 2021 summer "Rural Revitalization" social practice activities for college students.

The meeting was attended by Wu Shenghong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university; Yao Dong, Deputy District Mayor of Wuzhong District; Be Zhiqin, Deputy District Mayor of Wuzhong District and Head of the District Science and Technology Township; Shen Yubao, Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Wuzhong District, among others. The joint construction ceremony was presided over by Qin Zheng, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Wuzhong District.

At the meeting, Deputy District Mayor Yao Dong delivered a welcome speech, expressing warm congratulations on the establishment of the social practice base on behalf of the Wuzhong District Government. He highly praised our university for its achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research, and cooperation between industry, academia, and research. He hoped that through the effective means of doctoral student science and technology service social practice, further promotion of cooperation between universities, local governments, and enterprises could be achieved, facilitating smooth communication channels and seeking new impetus for high-quality development.

Wang Yuchao, Secretary of the university's Youth League Committee, introduced the situation of our university's college student social practice work. Wang Kaifeng, a doctoral student from the School of Biological Engineering, as well as representatives from Sanji Foundry Equipment Co., Ltd. and Suzhou Cornigs Polyols Co., Ltd., spoke on behalf of the members of the doctoral science and technology service team and the practice units respectively. Be Zhiqin, Deputy District Mayor of Wuzhong District and Head of the District Science and Technology Township, as well as the leaders of the tenth and eleventh batches of the District Science and Technology Township, and Zhao Jianping, Dean of the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering of our university, made exchange speeches.

Deputy Secretary Wu Shenghong expressed gratitude to the Wuzhong District Government for their high attention and strong support for this activity. He emphasized that the activities of doctoral students' science and technology service practice are an important way for universities to fulfill their functions of "cultivating talents, developing science, and serving society." He hoped that the members of the service team would love the Party and the country, be self-confident and self-improving in practice, seek truth and innovation, and be committed to exploring and innovating. They should take it as their own responsibility to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, continuously enhancing the confidence, backbone, and foundation of being Chinese.

Finally, the university and the local government jointly unveiled the plaque for the university's college student social practice base. After the ceremony, Deputy Secretary Wu Shenghong led the team of doctoral students in science and technology service to visit relevant enterprises to carry out social practice activities.

In addition, Deputy Secretary Wu Shenghong was invited to attend the Suzhou International Elite Entrepreneurship Week, which was part of the 13th East Wu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit.

Relevant functional departments of the university, college leaders, and teachers and students of the doctoral science and technology service team all participated in the activities.
