On the morning of December 5th, the third "Innovation Jiangsu" College Student Entrepreneurship Competition concluded in Nanjing.

The third "Innovation Jiangsu" College Student Entrepreneurship Competition was launched in June of this year, with a total of 1,030 entrepreneurial projects and 628 outstanding participants registered. In the entrepreneurial project competition, the key criteria for judgment were whether the projects seized high-tech opportunities, led new formats, and drove the new economy. In the outstanding participant competition, the judges were impressed by many college student entrepreneurs who displayed an indomitable entrepreneurial spirit and were moved by their experiences of perseverance and resilience in entrepreneurship. In the end, awards were given to "Top Ten Excellent Projects" including Functional Multifunctional Alcohols and Holographic Intelligent Display Screens, as well as "Top Ten Entrepreneurship Models" such as Luo Renjuan, Zhang Xue, and Gu Ruojun.

Sun Ke, General Manager of Suzhou Cornigs Polyols Co., Ltd.

Sun Ke, a graduate of Nanjing Tech University, is the founder of Suzhou Cornigs Polyols Co., Ltd. The company mainly focuses on researching key enzyme technologies for the high-value conversion of polyols, achieving deep utilization of polyols. The entrepreneurial journey was not without its challenges. In 2017, Sun Ke's company was sued by Corning Incorporated of the United States for alleged infringement of its intellectual property rights. However, Sun Ke led the team to win lawsuits in both Beijing and Hong Kong, becoming the only successful transnational intellectual property lawsuit in Jiangsu Province in 2017. Sun Ke said that entrepreneurship depends on timing, location, and people, but often these factors don't align perfectly. "I think the most important thing is to believe, to believe that you can succeed no matter how many setbacks and difficulties you encounter."

Luo Renjuan, second from the left

Entrepreneur, undaunted by setbacks and difficulties. Luo Renjuan lost her right leg in a car accident at the age of four, but with unwavering determination, she managed to attend university and even became a national team sitting volleyball player. After retiring, Luo Renjuan founded the Clover Disability Assistance Center, leading 14 disabled individuals in providing home care and rehabilitation services for the disabled. Through the "Star Dream Sailing" educational training program, she supported 131 children from disabled families in two years. Through entrepreneurship, Luo Renjuan has helped address the employment issues of some college students and disabled individuals, achieving a win-win-win situation of "public welfare + employment + profit," and implementing a "warm-hearted business model," earning her the title of "Top Ten Entrepreneurship Models." Luo Renjuan hopes to help more disabled individuals become self-reliant, provide them with more job opportunities, help them integrate into society, and realize their own self-worth. "The road of assisting the disabled is my entrepreneurial path, and I am willing to walk every step of my entrepreneurship journey with sincerity and compassion."

Entrepreneurship requires passion. Zhang Xue, a master's degree graduate, gave up studying abroad and resigned from a financial company job to pick up the embroidery needle for the inheritance of her hometown's Su embroidery. In 2013, Zhang Xue founded her company, subsequently employing over 200 rural women in the embroidery industry, increasing their annual income by 40,000 yuan per person. Zhang Xue integrates traditional Su embroidery into modern life, innovating Su embroidery techniques. She holds 5 invention patents, 35 appearance design patents, and over 500 art copyrights. "In addition to inheritance, there is another mission, which is how to innovate in our contemporary development and give Su embroidery a new look in this era."

It is understood that over the past five years, Jiangsu Province has seen 176,500 college students successfully start their own businesses, with an average annual growth rate of 14%, becoming a bright spot in the province's mass entrepreneurship.

This year's competition was jointly organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Provincial Department of Commerce, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Jiangsu Provincial Women's Federation, and hosted by the Jiangsu Entrepreneurship Service Association, Jiangsu Labor and Employment Management Center, various municipal human resources and social security bureaus, and the Jiangsu Radio and Television General Channel Education Channel.
