On the morning of July 11th, 2021, the Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit, and the Wu Zhong Sub-venue (13th) of the Suzhou International Elite Entrepreneurship Week officially kicked off. Guests included: Tan Jianrong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and distinguished professor of "Qiu Shi Scholar" at Zhejiang University; Yu Fang Shi, academician of the European Academy of Sciences; Wu Shenghong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Tech University; Xu Wenbao, President of Jiangsu Human Resources Industry Association; Pang Guowei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Chemical Engineering at Sichuan University; Su Zhou, Dean of the Network College of Xi'an Jiaotong University; Fan Benhe, Secretary of the Party Committee of China (Shanghai) Human Resources Service Industry Park, and other dignitaries.

Leaders and experts from universities and research institutes such as Nanjing Tech University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as high-level talent teams who came to negotiate projects, representatives of innovation and entrepreneurship carriers, representatives from the investment community, and financial institutions also participated in the event.

Tan Jianrong, Yu Fang Shi, Ding Lixin, Gu Xiaodong, Zhang Binghua, and Feng Jianrong jointly inaugurated the Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit. Ding Lixin welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude to all sectors of society for their long-term concern and support for the development of Wu Zhong.

Wu Zhong District is blessed with beautiful scenery and abundant talent. In recent years, Wu Zhong District has been deeply implementing the strategy of industrial revitalization and talent empowerment, optimizing the coordinated development of urban, industrial, and ecological aspects, with a total talent pool in the region exceeding 300,000 people.

We will establish an innovation development "ecosystem" and create a "preferred destination" for talent innovation and entrepreneurship.

Taihu Lake is the ecological green heart of the Yangtze River Delta, and Wu Zhong is accelerating the construction of an ecological lake area and an innovation lake area, comprehensively building an innovative ecosystem. We are implementing the Dongwu High-Level Talent Plan with greater intensity, providing uncapped policy support for top talent projects.

We will continue to promote the deep integration of talent chain, industry chain, and innovation chain, strengthen the connection between government, industry, academia, and research institutes, deepen talent settlement projects, and focus on providing comprehensive and lifelong services for talent "attraction, cultivation, retention, and utilization," building a broad platform for talent settlement and entrepreneurship.

We will expand the industrial cooperation "circle of friends" and build an "accelerator" for talent innovation and entrepreneurship.

Wu Zhong is focusing on innovative industries, hosting high-end thematic summits, enhancing strategic cooperation with major institutions, and empowering talent innovation and entrepreneurship.

In the next five years, Wu Zhong will focus on fields such as next-generation information technology, intelligent manufacturing, biomedicine, aerospace and industrial Internet, inspection and testing, robotics, and cultural and creative industries, to create multiple billion-dollar modern industrial clusters and provide a fertile ground for the accelerated growth of talent-driven scientific and technological enterprises.

We will enhance the "soft power" of the business environment and empower the "competitiveness" of talent innovation and entrepreneurship.

Wu Zhong District will focus on the goal of "strong industrial zone, innovative zone, and talent zone," increase overall coordination at the district level, establish investment promotion centers and technology investment promotion centers, and comprehensively enhance the level of service for talent, industry, and innovation development.

We will devote more efforts to provide precise services for talent projects and go all out to pave the way for talent to succeed in entrepreneurship.

Since 2008, I have embarked on the path of innovation and entrepreneurship. Since coming to Suzhou in 2014, I have established the Suzhou University Institute of Translational Medicine, focusing on research into chronic diseases affecting human health such as autoimmune diseases, tumors, and metabolic diseases. We currently hold more than 20 related patents.

The road of translational medicine is long, and entrepreneurship in the biomedical field is even more arduous. The success of an enterprise requires favorable timing, location, and people. In Wu Zhong, ample funding, high-level talent, abundant land resources, and favorable tax treatments are all guarantees for entrepreneurial success.

This era is the golden age of the biopharmaceutical industry, known as the "evergreen sunrise industry". I am grateful to Wu Zhong for paving the way for our development and creating a beautiful home for entrepreneurship. As a citizen of Wu Zhong, I will work hard to contribute to the better tomorrow of Wu Zhong.

A series of award ceremonies, unveiling ceremonies, and signing ceremonies were also held at the scene.

In recent years, Wu Zhong District has continuously promoted cooperation among major institutions, accelerated the layout of innovation carriers, and promoted the development of an innovative economy.

Recently, Nanjing Tech University will establish the Nanjing Tech University-Cornigs Polyol Joint Research and Development Center in Wu Zhong, based on the integration of resources from multiple departments. This center will focus on key common technologies in fields such as biomass technology and digital factories to empower industrial development in Wu Zhong.

On the theme day of "Wu's Love for Talents" on May 20th, Wu Zhong District released a roadmap for talent settlement and career development and launched a batch of science and technology innovation carriers. At the event, the resort area, development zone, and high-tech zone introduced their respective science and technology innovation carriers.

Since 2018, Wu Zhong District has continuously held the "Zhii Wu Zhong" Maker Competition, achieving good results in talent attraction. Twelve projects have been selected for various levels of leading talent plans, and one project won the silver award in the national "Chuang Qing Chun" competition.

Since the launch on May 20th, this year's competition has attracted more than 500 outstanding projects. After two months of fierce competition, one first prize, three second prizes, and six third prizes were awarded.

Representatives of talent enterprises gave speeches. Representatives of talent projects that settled in Wu Zhong during the Entrepreneurship Week, such as Sun Ke and Wang Jiaxue, shared their experiences of starting businesses and settling in, which resonated widely with the guests and won unanimous approval. Both of them established their businesses in Wu Zhong through the activities of the Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit. In three years, they were successively selected for the Dongwu Leading Talent Plan and the Gusu Leading Talent Plan, and their businesses grew from scratch to thriving.

Key projects were signed. Representatives of three cooperation projects among major institutions and 15 entrepreneurial talent settlement projects signed contracts. The project docking work for the Entrepreneurship Week started comprehensively in April, with a total of over 1,500 talent and technology innovation projects being docked, and 59 projects have been settled so far.

During the summit, Wu Zhong District held several sub-events, including the 2021 "Zhii Wu Zhong" Maker Competition, the launch ceremony of the "Dongwu Partner Program," an aerospace industry high-end talent recruitment fair, the Yangtze River Delta high-skilled talent integrated development conference and the second "Industry-Education Integration and Technological Excellence in Wu Zhong" school-enterprise cooperation negotiation meeting, and the "Elite Students from Prestigious Schools Visiting Wu Zhong" symposium. Additionally, each of the eight towns (districts) in Wu Zhong held their own specialized talent project matchmaking events.

Since 2009, the Suzhou International Elite Entrepreneurship Week Wu Zhong Sub-venue has successfully held twelve sessions. The Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit was established in 2017 and held simultaneously with the Entrepreneurship Week sub-venue activities.

Over the past decade, the Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit has continuously upgraded its scale and level, expanded its content and scope, and increased its effectiveness and influence. It has attracted over 3,000 high-level talents, with 341 talent and technology innovation projects settling in, and 139 projects being selected for various levels of leading talent projects in innovation and entrepreneurship.
