On July 11th, the 2021 Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit, as well as the Suzhou International Elite Week Wujiang Sub-venue, opened. Wujiang, known for its picturesque scenery and outstanding talents, has a rich history of nurturing talent, producing 33 top scholars and 14 academicians. Ding Lixin, the Secretary of the Wujiang District Committee, stated that Wujiang will establish an innovative development "ecosystem chain" and create Wujiang as the "preferred destination" for talent innovation and entrepreneurship. This will involve continuously promoting the deep integration of talent chain, industry chain, and innovation chain, strengthening the connection between government, industry, academia, and research, and deepening the settlement projects for talents, providing a broad platform for talents to settle and start businesses. Additionally, Wujiang will expand its industrial cooperation "circle of friends" and establish an "accelerator" for talent innovation and entrepreneurship. By focusing on innovative industries and hosting high-end theme summits, it aims to strengthen strategic cooperation with major institutions and create an environment conducive to talent innovation and entrepreneurship.
Ding Lixin emphasized that Wujiang will enhance the "soft power" of its business environment and empower the "competitiveness" of talent innovation and entrepreneurship. It will devote greater efforts to providing precise services for talent projects, offering timely assistance when projects face difficulties, and providing support as projects grow. He expressed sincere hope that talents would come to Wujiang, experience the new changes in its development, and share the new opportunities it offers.
The opening ceremony, themed "Gathering Talents, Converging Wisdom in Wujiang," was dedicated to building an innovative entrepreneurship platform that integrates talents, projects, industries, carriers, and capital. On that day, the unveiling ceremony of the Nanjing Tech University Cornigs Polyol Joint R&D Center took place. The center will focus on key common technologies in fields such as biomass technology and digital factories to empower industrial development in Wujiang.
During the event, key recommendations were made for the Wujiang Resort Area, Development Zone, and High-tech Zone innovation and entrepreneurship carriers. Awards were presented to the top 10 winners of the 2021 "Convergence in Wujiang" Maker Competition and the 11th Wujiang District Youth (College Students) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Representatives of talent projects that settled in Wujiang, such as Sun Ke and Wang Jiaxue, shared their entrepreneurial experiences.
At the ceremony, representatives of three major institutions and 15 entrepreneurial talents signed contracts for cooperation. "The primary mission of the Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit has always been to ensure the landing of high-quality projects and the settlement of high-level talents," said a representative from the Wujiang District Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security. The project docking work for the Entrepreneurship Week started comprehensively in April, with more than 1,500 talent and innovation projects docked, and currently, 59 projects have been settled.
After the opening ceremony, Wujiang District will host several sub-activities of the Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit, including the Aerospace Industry High-end Talent Recruitment Fair, the Yangtze River Delta Skills Talent Integration Development Conference, the 2nd "Industry-Education Integration and Talent Excellence in Wujiang," and the "Top Students from Renowned Schools in Wujiang" symposium. Each of the eight towns and districts in Wujiang will focus on their key industrial areas and hold talent project matchmaking events in collaboration with industrial parks, talent funds, and key enterprises.
Since 2009, the special session of the Suzhou International Elite Entrepreneurship Week held in Wujiang has successfully organized twelve sessions. The Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit was established in 2017 and has been held concurrently with the branch activities of the Entrepreneurship Week. Over the past decade, the scale and level of the Dongwu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit have continued to upgrade, the content and scope of activities have been constantly expanded, and the effectiveness and influence of the activities have been continuously enhanced. It has attracted more than 3,000 high-level talents to participate, with 341 talent innovation and entrepreneurship projects settling in, including 139 selected for various levels of leading talent projects in innovation and entrepreneurship.
